Whitney and Rick knew of each other since high school but Whitney was just the young, cute girlfriend of one of Rick's friends brother. (Following me so far?) Apparently Rick used to picture them being a couple back then but never said anything. They reconnected recently and have been inseparable since.

I almost cried when Whitney's mom Maria called me because I have known Whitney since she was around seven years old. (Maria is a hair/makeup artist that I have worked with on shoots for about 18 or so years. I photographed her wedding too! Brides, you should definitely call her for your weddings!) I'm so thrilled I've been able to watch Whitney grow into this gorgeous woman. It really is a gift to me to be able to photograph her marriage to Rick and share in this special day with her and her family.

When they told me they had a theme for their engagement session, I couldn't wait for the shoot! Although I don't think all e-sessions need to have a theme, when they do it's like shooting an editorial spread and is simply a blast. Pulling together an idea with clothes, makeup, props and location is not only fun for me, though, it makes my clients feel like models for the day. I cannot wait for their May wedding...

When my clients realize that they don't need to be getting married/pregnant/having a birthday/having a baby/eighteen/fill in the blank, to have their portrait taken, I'm thrilled.  Portraits that celebrate life, just because, are some of my favorites.

Not only are these images a gift to herself, but what a great gift Lynn has given to her kids and grandkids.  Having documented this time in her life is an heirloom that her family will cherish forever.  I wish I had these of my folks, don't you?

Last month Kim and Omar had a beautiful baby girl.  Baby M came a little early so you'll have to wait awhile to see her baby photos. Meanwhile here are some photos of their maternity session. We did these just a week or so before she went into labor.

This gorgeous girl will be having her Bat Mitzvah in May.  She, and her folks, were so much fun to work with.  Ally is studying theater so she was really great about giving me a ton of great poses to choose from! Thanks for meeting me on this beautiful morning.  Looking forward to her big day!

I feel like I'm so behind on blogging, products and album design and have been trying to play a bit of catch up today.  It seems a bit surreal that my fathers funeral was just yesterday but the distraction of work has it's place.

This portrait session was shot a few weeks back.  It was a gift to Donna's parents on their anniversary!  Isn't that a great idea?  So thoughtful. Her brother was supposed to fly out from New York but got snowed in.  A few of my favs...
