Happy Valentines everyone! Yes, love should be an everyday thing but I think it's nice to have an extra special day set aside just for your significant other. I love love so why not? I make sure The Firefighter knows just how I feel and my kiddos too.  I make a point of telling them what I love about them and I smother them with hugs and kisses.  Yes smother... please don't call child services though, it's all good. They tolerate me, which is love, right?  At least from a teenager.

Yesterday I shot a hot couple's boudoir session for a valentine's gift to each other. It was getting pretty steamy at the end there.  I think I left just in time.  Nod, nod, wink, wink. (Are there minors reading this thing????)  Anyhow... I promised I wouldn't post pictures due to privacy issues... darn it.  I hate that I always keep my word!  I need to work on that...  BUT... I did ask if I could post just one itsy bitsy teeny one of just our smoldering guy.  I told them I owe it to my readers to see something since it is a photo blog. Ladies, you owe me!

You know when you are around a couple that are so happy with each other. The little glances, the contented, happy feeling they exude, the inside jokes they crack that no one else gets.  That is Danielle and Brashaud. And this is their wedding.

That close up detail of them *almost* kissing is killer - they must be thrilled with them. Great job girl!

When you move into your first place that's all your own, sometimes it's all you can do to scrape together enough money to pay the rent. Well, that was my case. I moved out on my own at 18, went to school part time, worked retail part time and was a freelance photojournalist for Flex Magazine. I took all that was "mine" which of course just consisted of what was in my bedroom... books, albums, art supplies and my camera equipment.  I think that was about it.  (Remind me to tell you the story of buying a futon and bumping into Bruce Springsteen!) So I was grateful to family and friends for giving me towels, a bookcase, a coffee table and some kitchen items.  Of course nothing matched in my little studio apartment, but it was all mine.  And I said to myself, "Self... one day you will own matching dishes and glasses and some nice pots and pans!".

Well, it's been an interesting, rollercoaster-ish journey on this thing called life but I have finally, at age 43, begun to have matching items in my kitchen. And I feel so grownup!  I posted awhile back about the new glasses I got at Pottery Barn and how they match my cool Target dishes so well.  (Those ceramic beauties are starting to chip though... badly.  Maybe because they are ceramic or maybe because they are from Target?) And now I am excited to say, after standing in the aisle of Bed, Bath and Beyond for an hour and a half staring at everything and justifying what I was about to do, I am the proud owner of some gorgeous stainless steel Calphalon pots and pans! I have been trying to save for the All Clad as I love them and currently own two pieces but after realizing I'll never be able to justify the price of those bad boys, I now have the prettiest pans on my block.  Of course I don't want to use them.  They are so shiny and, and, so new! Does anyone else ever feel that way?  (Of course, I have burned three pots in the last year making hummingbird food so it was now or never.  The Firefighter hinted that maybe I have done this on purpose so I can buy the new ones!)

Although I never make enough time to cook, I love cooking and baking and I really wanted to get teflon out of my house.  So, internet, what do you think?

Yesterday officially kicked off my wedding season of 2010.  I can't be more excited.  I have been meeting with some of the most amazing couples, and have beautiful, traditional weddings coming up as well as some completely unique, and quirky, DIY weddings as well.

As many of you know, I only take a limited amount of events a year and I'm almost full for 2010...  and it's only January.  I feel so fortunate that I will be part of everyone's special day and that this big 'ole internet has brought you my way.  And for all of you referring me, thank you!  Referrals are a huge part of my business and I couldn't do this without all your kind words to your friends and family.  I have started booking into 2011 so if you are interested in meeting with me, please give me a call.  I promise I don't bite.  (Well, there was that one time... but that's a long story...)

Here is a sneak peak at Danielle and Brashaud's wedding yesterday at Los Robles Country Club.  Don't you just love the way they are looking at each other and how tight he is holding her?  So sweet! My eyes actually tear up ever time I look at this one. More to come real soon!
