After a tough battle at the end, my step-dad passed away Friday afternoon. His funeral is today and I've spent the morning writing something to say. I don't know how I will get through it and I don't know how you can sum up 83 years of an amazing man's life in a two minute speech. I do know that my brother and I were blessed to have him in our lives. He was the sweetest, funniest man I've known and a great grandfather to his seven grandkids. Life without seeing him will be hard but I know he is now with my mom, looking out for us and having great seats to all the Dodger games. I love you.

Thank you to all my amazing clients for allowing me to spend the last two weeks in hospice with him, taking care of him and making him comfortable. And thank you to the Firefighter and my kids also for allowing me this time with him. It meant a lot to me. Love you guys!
Lily's Bat Mitzvah, was so full of life, love and energy. This family is so fabulous, I feel fortunate they thought of me when it came time to photographing Lily's big day. The whole event was held at Maggiano's which gave a warm backdrop to the festivities.

The DJ's, from Get in the Groove, had the dance floor packed all day. Video by Bella Video Productions.

The rain feels appropriate today. The dark clouds that gather have been gathering in our family for awhile. I'm going back to the hospital today to visit my father...There aren't many days left for me to spend with him and I want to make sure that if his eyes open he sees a familiar face. One that says thank you for everything. Thank you for being the best, thank you for loving and taking care of me and my brother, thank you for being so amazing and funny. One that says I love you and it's okay...

I will not be taking any new jobs this month. If you are interested in booking, please contact me in March. Any existing sessions will still be honored. Thank you for understanding.
I'm on my way to the hospital to visit my dad. I think he needs some extra Valentines lovin' right now...

But first I want to wish all of you a very happy heart day, from mine to yours. Here is a shot of the cupcakes my daughter made for her classmates. The hearts are chocolate too. All her idea! (If it looks a little yellow/orange, it's because my table and walls are yellow/orange!)
Happy Valentine's!

When I am retained to shoot a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, part of what I do are portrait sessions. These are usually used for a sign in board or, my favorite, a guest sign in book. But what I really love, is getting to know these kids before their big day. It gives us a chance to get to know each other and bond a bit so they are comfortable with me when their event arrives. I don't do formal portrait sittings. I want the kids to be truly who they are so we do great, fun, lifestyle sessions.

I loved working with Jacob and his family; I got to bond with the whole family! They had so much fun together and Jacob is so handsome! Love the shots we got of him doing the things he is passionate about. I'm looking froward to his March Bar Mitzvah.
