I meet with Stephanie and Andrew at a restaurant awhile back to talk about their wedding.  There were on their way home to Fresno after scouting out kilts in Santa Monica for the male wedding attire. That was the first sign that I knew I wanted to shoot their wedding.  No, actually the second.  Stephanie's amazingly cute freckles and Andrews amazing eyes were the first thing. Then the kilts.

The clincher, however, was when they told me they met in San Diego while in the Navy. The wheels in my head starting spinning and I'm sure if they had looked closely they would have seen manic excitement in my eyes (and probably a touch of smoke coming out of my ears). I told them about an image I had been wanting to recreate with the right couple.  A homage paid to an image I love by Alfred Eisenstaedt with a real sailor, so it would ring true... for them and me.  I left that meeting praying they would book me and jumped for joy when they did.  And that they were just as excited by my idea!

Fast forward months later and here we are in downtown LA with some of the older architecture surrounding us, doing an interpretation of an iconic image. Thank you Stephanie and Andrew for trusting me and having fun with me during your engagement session.  Can't wait for your San Diego wedding next month!
