Hi my name is Karen; I'm a snacker. (Do I hear you all saying "Hi Karen"?) I'm one of those eat-six-small-meals-over-the-course-of-the-day type people. I just don't have the appetite for big meals. And there's is just something about bit size food that I love. And cheese. I could eat cheese at every meal. As much as I try to be a vegetarian, I could never be vegan. A life without cheese is not something I want to ever experience.

So for this month's 'Thing's I Love' post, I bring you my new favorite culinary obsession: Chevre Goat Cheese (with herbs preferably) on Trader Joe's Pita Bite Crackers. I could eat the whole log in one sitting. (I'm so glad my metabolism hasn't completely gone to pot yet!)
What is your favorite snack?

I always love meeting new couples and hearing their stories. And I love hearing what's instore for the wedding day. These two plan on having some unique features to their wedding and I can't wait until November. (Well, I can since that would mean the holidays were right behind and I'm not ready for those yet!)

Besides planning their wedding , these two have also decided to buy a house. Not just any house but a brand spankin' new house! So what better way to celebrate all these new beginnings but with an early morning photoshoot in their unfinished home! With three of their over 25 pets! Did I get that right guys? Somewhere around there but that's a story for another day...

I first met Brittany a few years back when my daughter started playing softball. She is also going to high school with my son and playing softball for the school. Brittany always has a warm smile and big hug for me - Just a sweetheart!
It turns out Brittany has recently gotten very ill and three weeks in, she is still in ICU but showing improvements and getting stronger. It also turns out that her parents do not have health insurance. After all the debates on health care going on in this country, here is a first-hand account of a hard-working family struggling to get their daughter the care she needs.
This is where you and I come in. I'm hoping to help rally the local community to make a difference for Brittany's family by coming out for a PHOTO FUNDRAISER. 100% of the proceeds will go toward Brittany's medical expenses.
Please join me by booking a ten-minute mini-photo session*. For $50 you will get a beautiful portrait and two retouched digital files. This might be a perfect time to get your holiday portrait taken; the headshot you've been meaning to get; or even a portrait of your new puppy! The studio will not have a deal THIS good for a long time!
When: Sunday, August 29
9am - 12pm
Where: Shadow Ranch Park in West Hills
I will be booking sessions every 15 minutes, so it is important that you call to book your time. If all the slots fill up, I will happily extend the time to help Brittany as much as possible.
Please call now, operators are standing by! (Okay, I couldn't resist that one!) Really though, come out with your family and make a difference.
*Please note that this is for one set-up and one look only.
A little artsy photo from the field...

On Sunday morning, Helena and Richard blended their families together to create probably the best looking brood in Pasadena!

But let me back up... it was a beautiful drive up the coast to Santa Barbara, where Helena and Richard were having a morning wedding at the Four Seasons Biltmore Resort. { I don't know why more couples don't have an early ceremony and luncheon. It was such a pleasant departure from the norm.} Although they had an overcast day, it was warm and beautiful and without sounding too cliche, full of love from friends and family - some that came as far away as Brazil.
Surrounded by their family, they helped each other get ready which made the first look and portraits easy. {This is only the second wedding I've shot where the couple helped each other get dressed and I love it. It's so intimate and sweet.}

I loved the non-tradional vision Helena had for her dress and other aspects of the wedding day. Isn't this Lily Pulitzer dress perfect for a summer beach wedding?

GQ Magazine called... they want their model back!

Calvin Klein Kids called too...

Helena told me she wanted her flowers to look like a sunset and I think Joni of Hearts Bloom did an amazing job!

Such a sweet moment when all the kids came over for a family hug...

Merryl of Merryl Brown Events did a superb job as day of coordinator.

Delicious cake by The Four Seasons Biltmore...

Gorgeous acoustic guitar by Roberto Montero, a classy touch!
I know this is a long post but for even more images, check out the slideshow:

Loved viewing these photos. I love the venue! This summer we stayed in one of the rooms just off this ceremony site. I sat in my room and peaked through the curtains to watch the beautiful ceremonies taking place! The flowers were GORGEOUS! I love, love, Dahlia's! Makes me what to get married again! 19 years and counting! We'll have to celebrate our 25th with you taking the photos!
