I have always loved porches. The bigger, the better. I love the ones in the south that warp around the house and the screened in ones that you can sleep on. Here in the valley, the tract homes I've grown up with lack personality and porches. One day I hope to be able to add a porch to the front of my home. There's room... but there's also college to save for, so I'm not sure if this will ever happen!

When I was hired to photograph this large extended family during the holidays, I was thrilled to pull up and find a porch! As I said, you just don't see them much in these parts of LA. And of course it was perfect for a family portrait, don't you think?

I met this family in between rainstorms a few weeks back. I always suggest to my families that we shoot at a place that has meaning to them and when they actually take my advice I'm a happy girl because I know the photos will have even more meaning to them. (That goes for all of you out there reading this!)

The Keith's have been going to this park every summer since the kids were little to listen to the summer concerts here. Now, here we were with two grown sons and I could just feel from mom how much this photo shoot meant to her. I believe this is what she asked for for Christmas and her men were sweet enough to oblige.

Finally getting around to blogging this fabulous family. I love when I get the chance to shoot them because they are so truly themselves when I do their family portraits. I think I said this about last years shoot... relaxed, authentic moments captured for them to cherish. Here's an idea of an hour or so of the Seltzers... truly, authentically. Thanks again for letting me into your lives you guys.

Perhaps two of my favorite of the whole year...

Check out the beautiful portrait of the girls behind them...

You might remember the maternity session recently with my step-sis? Well, here is the newest addition to the family. Baby J made his entrance into the world a few weeks too early so we had to wait awhile for his session. Everyone is home and doing well now and you can see Baby J is doing awesome!

Everybody loves Baby J!

I think this was my most stylish family this year. I love when my clients bring great cloths and props to our shoot. They look like a Ralph Lauren ad:
